The Next Generation of Leaders
Our Leadership Training (LT) Program teaches advanced youth development and leadership skills. The LT program is a year-round, three-year commitment.
Campers, ages 14 and 15, express their interest in the program at the culmination of their Explorers or Master Explorers trip. Campers are accepted based on recommendations from their counselors and Unit Directors, who observe the campers and their leadership qualities during their time at camp. After completing their third year in the program, LTs may apply for a counseling position at Minikani.
The purpose of the LT Program is to provide participants with effective leadership skills, through training and experiences, that can be used throughout their lives.
- Leaders in Training (LTs) find commitment to leadership and service for others.
- They work to develop leadership skills, such as respect, responsibility, and communication, in an outdoor setting at Minikani.
- The skills they learn help them to work effectively with children, and others, at camp and within their communities.
